MLA Handbook

The MLA Handbook was most recently updated in 2021. It gives step-by-step advice on every aspect of writing papers, from selecting a topic to submitting the completed paper. It provides an authoritative presentation of MLA documentation style for use in student writing.

One copy of the handbook is available for 24-hour use at the Checkout Desk, and another is in the main collection.

Writing Support at Fisher

For support with writing, email the SJF Writing & Tutoring Center Director, Dr. Jennifer Thompson Stone: jthompsonstone@sjf.edu. She will connect you with a professional writing consultant to schedule a Zoom appointment.

Students can also access free 24/7 online writing support via the Brainfuse app. Writing tutors are available to live-chat, or students can submit drafted work to the “Writing Lab” service for asynchronous feedback. Access Brainfuse services on the my.sjf.edu apps dashboard.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Writing Center, linked below, offers a great compendium of resources about things like thesis statements, annotated bibliographies, and much more.

Please email smaiorani@sjf.edu with issues (broken links, missing info), and they will be addressed as soon as possible.
