Through this library session, students will learn to:

  • recognize the key concepts within a research statement in order to more efficiently search library databases.
  • brainstorm related key-terms to a research topic in order to find a variety of research articles on the topic.
  • utilize available database searching strategies in order to focus and expand a search.
  • bring these skills together by using a library database to find articles for the research topic.
  • identify characteristics of, and differences between, scholarly, trade, and popular publications in order to select the proper resources for research.
