Tools for Evaluating Journals for Publication

Think, Check, Submit

This quick video talks about the three main steps of submitting work for publication: think about where you should publish, check out the venue against certain criteria, and then submit!

Journal Matching Tools from Publishers

Some publishers create tools to help you select a journal. While Lavery Library does not advocate for specific publishers, these tools may help you in your search:

Using AI to Select Journals

Microsoft Copilot is a generative AI tool that can help you select journals that may be a good fit for your publication:

DePeters Center includes it on its list of protected generative AI tools that have been reviewed for data privacy by OIT. This means the prompts you enter will not be used outside of our organization.

Sample Copilot Prompts

  • I am looking to publish this article I wrote in a journal. I am a researcher. What are some academic, peer-reviewed journals that would be a good fit for this abstract? List 10 peer-reviewed journals that would be a good fit. Here's the abstract: [paste in your abstract here]
  • Make a list of peer-reviewed journals that would be suitable for publishing a scholarly article on that includes these topical keywords: [insert your keywords here]. These journals should appear on the ABDC Journal Quality List (Australian Business Deans Council). For each journal, list the ABDC quality rating.

How to Access Suggested Journals

You can use Find Journals to look up and browse any suggested journals on Lavery Library's website:
