About this Toolkit

This is a toolkit for faculty members who are teaching the Core course 3990, Advanced Research-Based Writing.

This toolkit provides:

  • Information about the librarian-taught component of the course.
  • Resources aligned to the Fisher Outcomes of Inquiry & Analysis, Integrative and Applied Learning, and Equity & Inclusion and 3990 course objectives.

About Librarian Support

  • Every section of 3990 is supported by a librarian.
  • The librarians have created a special research lesson specifically for 3990 students.
  • Before the librarian-taught research lesson, students will complete Library 3990 Essentials, self-enroll Brightspace mini course. Students review research how-tos they might have forgotten since 1299 Research-Based Writing. For transfer students who never took 1299, this mini-course introduces students to library resources and finding scholarly journal articles. Required pre-session work for all 3990 sections. The librarian shows students how to self-enroll.
  • Online sections of 3990 and seated/non-online sections get librarian support tailored to the teaching modality of the course. This toolkit provides information for both.
