The Monarch Initiative is a collaborate effort to combine basic research across a multitude of disciplines in an effort to connect data in a manor that allows for the development of better understandings of the pathways involved with diseases, orthologs and parologs of disease genes in animals to develop new models for the study of disease, and foster the development of new therapeutics for a wide array of conditions with focus on more orphaned conditions.
